We’re excited to announce Jason Denzel’s Mystic trilogy will be published by Tor Books! Denzel is the founder of Dragonmount, a community and news site dedicated to Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. Founded in 1998, the site provides news, forums, discussion groups, role-playing, and a podcast, as well as a hub for Twitter and Facebook communities, email, and games. It is now the largest and best-known WoT site.
Denzel’s first novel will be published this fall. Read more about the series and check out the full cover image for Mystic below!
Jason Denzel can’t wait to tell his story:
Having the opportunity to publish my stories through Tor is a dream come true. For over a decade I’ve had the pleasure of frequently collaborating with their team to celebrate Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. Now, thanks to the trust they’ve shown me, I get to tell my stories in my own style and voice. I look forward to sharing the Mystic trilogy with everyone, and getting the chance to connect with new fans.
The Mystic trilogy will tell the story of Pomella, a restless teenager who leaves her village to apprentice herself to a mysterious Mystic – even though the law forbids it. After lying about her caste, she must undergo severe trials against nobles to prove her worthiness. Far more dangerous, however, is the conspiracy she finds: someone is plotting to murder her and the Mystic! Mystic will be followed by Mystic Dragon, and Mystic Skies.

Beautiful cover. Really looking forward to reading this one.
Looks great – can’t wait to read it!
I’m in.
Great news! You go, Jason!
Shut up and take my money. Seriously, when can I preorder it?
Congratulations Jason. Really exciting news. I like the book’s cover. Is the tree at the bottom a sortpof shout out to WoT and Avendesora?
Thanks for reading my musings,
AndrewB
Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
@6: No, the tree at the bottom isn’t a direct shout out to Avendesora, but it IS a tribute to the Tree of Life from Celtic mythology (which is where Avendesora is from!). Even though this book is pretty different from WoT overall, I think it’s safe to say that some of Robert Jordan’s style is baked into my consciousness, right?
Sounds great! Is it a coincidence that that it comes out the same day the Wheel of Time companion? That’s pretty cool, the last WoT publication and the first Dragonmount-authored book coming out on the same day.
This is exciting! I can’t wait to get it
Jason, we are all so proud of your accomplishment! After reading the draft, I KNEW you had a hit. You knocked it right out of the park. I can’t wait to get a copy of the “real” book…Congratulations, Aunt G
Jason, I know the target market is a younger demographic, but even your old uncle really enjoyed the story. Your writing style is clear and easy to read. Characters are well defined and dialog flows. Congratulations on Book 1! Uncle Bill
Looking forward to reading this, Jason! Congratulations, and we’ll hope for many more to come.
The title immediately made me think of the CrossGen comic book series, now owned by Disney, and I thought it was being novelized, which would have been great. But no. Still this looks like it could be very good.
Awesome news, my friend. Sincerest congratulations to you!
I can’t help but wonder, given your original claim to fame Mr. Denzel, if you won’t follow in RJ’s footsteps: A planned trilogy turning into FAR more.
